Earlier this year, my wife Deb & I took a fabulous trip to Iceland with a wacky bunch of folks, most of whom were photographers. (Pity the few spouses who were along!) The trip was arranged by Darwin Wiggett & Samantha Chrysanthou, and we were very capably led on site by Tim Vollmer. Well, as I wrote awhile ago, it’s taking me quite some time to even start looking at my Iceland photography, let alone develop any of it. Other priorities are taking my cycles… but that doesn’t mean Iceland isn’t lurking in my mind, right behind the press of immediate deadlines.

Just today while I was getting a haircut, I fell to discussing the Iceland trip with the lady who runs the salon, and I felt some of the rush of seeing that fantastic land hit my bloodstream again. Yeah, the place definitely made an impression, and I’m actively scheming about getting back. So… even as I mused recently about the benefits of having a “cooling off period” before diving into serious development of a complex shoot, there’s another part of me that wishes I wasn’t forced to wait awhile longer to get into my Iceland material. Well, I never said I was consistent. :)

Fortunately, I don’t have to wait forever to see again some of the sights from the land of fire & ice, because other members of our merry tour group have been continuing to get some of their work online. Saskatchewan-based photographer Branimir Gjetvaj was a member of our group, and he emailed me recently to say he now has a portfolio of his Iceland work up. You can see it at his Iceland stock gallery, or in his Flickr photostream. I already told Branimir that I’m envious of some of his results! :) It just goes to show once again that no two of us see the same place the same way. Go check out Branimir’s work. And while you’re there, take a look at his images of Saskatchewan, other parts of Canada, and Croatia… lots of good stuff.

And to see a few more Iceland photos from some others in the group, check out our Iceland 2012 Flickr group. It’s a public group so I think that link should work for anyone.

As for my Iceland images, well, right now I’m hoping to be able to start working on them sometime in October. I know it’s tough, but just hang in there a little longer… :)
